The Ministry of Sports has completed the payment corresponding to the sports incentives for the year 2023, confirmed Andrés Guschmer, in response to complaints raised by several Ecuadorian athletes who are part of the High Performance Plan.
After having stated that they had not received their financial incentives for five months, the head of this State Portfolio announced that the payment corresponding to the previous year was concluded. “Fulfilling our commitment from day one, today, Tuesday, March 26, the Ministry of Sports has completed the payment corresponding to sports stimuli for the year 2023, for the benefit of high-performance athletes,” he stated. Although he did not specify the amount disbursed, he indicated that the benefits are around USD 6 million. According to the Minister’s statements, this amount corresponds only to a part of a debt that was carried over from the previous administration and that was assumed by the current administration as a priority.
