More than 30 nautical miles from the municipality of Bahía Solano in the department of Chocó, units of the Colombian Navy in development of comprehensive maritime security and control operations, rescued three men, two of them of Panamanian nationality and one of Colombian nationality, aboard a drifting boat.

The rescue was carried out when a Rapid Reaction Unit – UUR from the Bahía Solano – Chocó Coast Guard Station, which was carrying out maritime control in the area, located the boat named “Niña Andrea” and proceeded to carry out the visit. and inspection. The crew members told the military personnel that they had set sail on April 15, from the Bridge of the Americas in Panama City, to carry out fishing tasks. On the third day, the three men arrived in the general area of ​​Isla Galera in Panama, where they were approached by four armed individuals, who forced them to sail to Colombian waters and stripped them of their belongings, damaging the engine, which left them stranded. He drifted for nine days, managing to survive by feeding on water and some canned food they had on the boat.

The Colombian Sailors proceeded to transport them with the boat to the main dock of the Bahía Solano Coast Guard Station, where they were provided with medical attention to verify the health status of the three men, ages 38, 39 and 44, as well as food. .
