May 1, 1994 the death of Ayrton Senna. In the original videos used during the Bolognese trial which established the causes of the accident, and which bear the signature of the Cineca technicians, the last seconds before the impact on the Imola circuit. From the analysis of the videos, the experts understood the causes of the tragic accident.

The accident was caused – as the Corriere della Sera article explains of 2014 – from the failure of the steering column after a modification that Senna himself had requested to be able to see the instruments of his car better. The column had been divided into two parts and then welded, but the tube, as will later be demonstrated by investigations carried out at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna and at the aeronautical center of Pratica di Mare, showed signs of fatigue and rust and did not hold up to stresses.

The dynamics were ascertained after a long trial that began in 1997 and concluded in 2005 when the crime was already statute barred, rendering the charge of manslaughter for Patrick Head, Williams technical director, in vain. The column was the cause of the accident, but the cause of death was the suspension arm which came loose and stuck in a crack in the helmet, hitting the pilot on the head. A mocking fatality because a few centimeters would have been enough and the object would have slipped away, hitting the helmet without consequences. The autopsy showed that the rest of the body had not suffered any damage. For Brazil and for the world it was an incredible shock.
