Bart De Pauw speaks out after the fuss surrounding the documentary series: “I photograph all hate messages, report them and delete them”

Bart De Pauw has made himself heard again. Three days after the first episode of the docu-series ‘The trial that no one wanted’ was broadcast on TV, he asked on social media to “stay polite”.

“Can we agree that we will be polite to each other?” he begins his post. The fallen TV maker responds to the many hate messages he receives. “I photograph them, report them and delete them,” it says. “Do we want to continue in a positive way, or do we continue to dredge?” says De Pauw.

The broadcast of The Trial That Nobody Wanted, in which the victims in the De Pauw case tell their stories, was watched by 542,671 people on Wednesday evening. That is more than twice as many viewers as normal in that time slot on VRT Canvas.

The second episode will air next week.
