Bas-Uele: incursion of Central African rebels “Seleka” in 2 localities of Ango

Fighters from the Central African rebellion, Seleka, made an incursion this week into two neighboring localities, in the territory of Ango in the province of Bas-Uélé, local civil society reported this Saturday, February 24.

The incident occurred on the night of last Tuesday to Wednesday at around 11 p.m.

These Central African rebels looted some domestic animals before being chased away by soldiers from the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) who came to the rescue of the population.

A total of eight elements of the Central African Seleka rebellion broke out in the town of Banda.

According to local civil society, three rebels headed towards the Mbororo camp in search of two people for unclear reasons.

Alerted by the population, the FARDC based in the region intervened by firing a few shots to dissuade the attackers.

The latter were forced to flee.

In the same evening, reports the same source, five other rebels operated in a farmer’s field, located 18 km from Banda.

They tortured the owner of the field before seizing his ten animals including goats and sheep.

The administrator of the Ango territory, Marcelin Lekabusia confirms the facts. He adds that the FARDC is still pursuing these Central African rebels.

These soldiers have not yet returned to the city of Ango.

In the meantime, calm has returned to the localities attacked by these attackers, after a restless night.

The territorial authority is calling for the strengthening of military personnel in this entity in order to secure the population.
