BATTIPAGLIA – Technical tests carried out. The traffic light in via Spineta has been repaired. The work carried out by the technicians and workers of the Province of Salerno, at the request of the councilor Antonio Sagarese, was completed with the construction of a concrete cabinet that will keep the card to avoid further thefts. «Every time we put it into operation they stole the card – explained Sagarese – this time we took precautions. They will no longer be able to steal it. Now we have to carry out a technical meeting at the Municipality – scheduled for Wednesday – with which we will put in black and white the delivery to the Municipality for future management. Together with the municipal commander and the technical office, waiting times will be established. It is an extra-urban route and there is a regulation to respect. From next weekend, if not sooner, the traffic light will be operational. In these days we will also finish cutting the grass that obstructs the view ».
Sagarese is not convinced that a traffic light is enough at that intersection that intersects four roads. Hence the idea of having a roundabout built. The proposal was included in the province’s public works plan. Before proceeding it will be necessary to carry out expropriations. The times will not be very short. In the meantime, we will have to settle for the traffic light which, for sure, will help avoid accidents. The last one that happened a few days ago involved three cars, coming from different roads. All at high speed. Almost no one respected the road signs by stopping at the stop. Result: four injured and at least one of the cars destroyed. Some accidents have even been fatal. The road is very busy both in winter and in summer, when the movement of residents heading to the center is added to that of vacationers who travel along it to reach the sea.
