Be a Light is a global initiative that aims to spread the light of Jesus Christ to all humanity regardless of their background or language. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites all to let their light shine by showing love to those around us, sharing joy, and following the example of Jesus Christ.

There are Christmas videos to watch and share, Christmas music to download, ideas for acts of service, and much more. On the page Be a light you can download a list that offers “50 suggestions on how you can let your light shine” in a simple and spontaneous way. Also on the same page you can find a short preview of the European Christmas concert created specifically for this Christmas period. On December 10, 2023 it will be broadcast “Witnesses of Christmas – Carols of Christ” which can be viewed on the Be a Light page or on YouTube. Ideas for acts of service of the new “service distributor” can be found in English, French, Portuguese e Spanish. Everyone is welcome to join the Church’s official Facebook group Light the World to share uplifting stories, acts of service and ideas on how to share the light of Christ during the Christmas season. Even though the page is in English, posts can be written in any language. The First Presidency’s annual Christmas gathering, featuring music by the world-famous Tabernacle Choir, is now available on ChurchOfJesusChrist.org in English, French, tedesco, Spanish, Italian and other languages.
Be a Light has become an annual Christmas tradition for communities around the world. President Russell M. Nelson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said the world needs the light of Jesus Christ more than ever before. “I marvel at the growing benevolence and kindness that manifests itself during this sacred period. As we commemorate the birth of Him who is the Light of the World, we light a new light within each of us. […] If we follow Jesus Christ, we can make this world better.”
