BELLUNO. Oscar De Pellegrin is the first candidate for mayor in view of the municipal elections in Belluno. At the head of the civic list “Belluno al centro”, the former Paralympic athlete takes the field, which is no longer the competition one – in shooting and archery – but electoral: “The challenge has never scared me” , explained the candidate. “And now I’m ready to experience another one, for a city that has seen me born, grow, mature: he gave me everything, without asking for anything in return. However, I deeply feel the duty – or rather – the pleasure of giving something back to this city, which for me is the most beautiful in the world. That’s why I decided to make myself available. I do it with humility, a spirit of service and a sense of responsibility ».

De Pellegrin rejects labels: «I am applying for a civic list because” civic “is my feeling. I am not a politician and I have no party cards. The proposal came from the center-right, but my commitment is for the territory and the community. I am addressing all the people of Belluno: even those from the center-left ». Sport and social life have marked the path of the candidate for the role of mayor: «I will make my baggage as an athlete and manager available. In this sense, I have always worked in a group with the aim of enhancing people. And the associations that I preside over, or that I have presided over, confirm this. One above all, the Assi Onlus, aimed at promoting the social integration of those living with a disability ».

Listening and concreteness are two authentic cornerstones: «Yes, my method starts from listening, because I am aware of not having a past in the administrative field. But, being a citizen among citizens, I intend to give shape to the concept of participatory democracy. And to ensure that the community is an active part of a process of change and development in which anyone feels a protagonist. I am not a centralizer, nor an “all-rounder”: I have also learned to relate to different ideas, to find unity of purpose and points of convergence in order to arrive at precise choices and the resolution of problems ».

Putting “Belluno back to the center” is the absolute priority: “We live in a wonderful city, which deserves to be enhanced through projects aimed at increasing tourism, services, safety, social security, health: in the heart of the capital, as well as in the hamlets “. Special attention is paid to young people: «Because they suffered most of all, in the two years of the pandemic. Their sociability has been sacrificed and now, girls and boys must be given new opportunities ».

Oscar De Pellegrin’s is also a life choice: «And a sacrifice for my family, I am aware of that. But the love for the city of Belluno pushes me in this direction ».
