BELLUNO. He died of a heart attack after leaving the emergency room. The Court of Belluno has closed the investigation for manslaughter against the token doctor Renzo Bressan. But the family of Elvi Sandon has initiated a civil suit against theUlss 1 and the health company called Bressan himself into question.
The legal matter is not over yet: a first road to compensation for damages is closed, but another one has opened. The first hearing of the civil proceedings is set for the month of November and the Sandons are protected by the lawyer Conti. There is a whisper of a request that could reach 500 thousand euros.
The procedure was triggered by the complaint presented by the family members, after the death of June 30, 2019. Sandon suffered from heart disease and this is the premise from which we must necessarily start. According to the first reconstruction of the facts, that Sunday morning, around 4, he went to the emergency room because he felt bad: he accused a pain behind his left shoulder blade. After a series of preliminary examinations he was discharged and, after a couple of hours, he died of cardiac arrest. Heart attack was the diagnosis of the coroner who, after having ascertained the death, warned the magistrate on duty.
According to the plaintiff, the 62-year-old patient was not treated adequately. The wife Francesca she complains that her husband was not given at least an electrocardiogram. It would have been better still to keep him for observation instead of sending him home, where he will die a couple of hours after the visit.
Different reading of the defense of the accused, who participated in the autopsy with the partisan consultant, Dr. Michele Cottin. According to his reconstruction, Sandon showed up in the emergency department of Viale Europa with pain in the armpit and left shoulder blade. He must have told the doctor that he had fallen, which is why, after the triage, the doctor did not have him undergo specific heart tests and did not restrain him.
