Benedetti said that he was carried away “by rage and drinking.” Did he back down?

After all the controversy that has been generated with the audios between the former Venezuelan ambassador, Armando Benedetti, and the former chief of staff of Gustavo Petro, Laura Sarabia, the former diplomat wrote a trill in which he stated that in an act of weakness he left himself carry “for the rage and the drink”

Benedetti, whose statements have generated a political crisis, emphasized the importance of his political role in the president’s government and was closer to the government.

In the message, the former ambassador stated that it was all due to the fact that, dissatisfied with what he had received politically, “in an act of weakness and sadness” he allowed himself to be carried away “by rage and drinking”.

The politician took the opportunity to express his admiration for President Gustavo Petro and express his excuses for the damage caused.

In addition, admitted that he wanted to occupy a more important position in Colombia and considered his role as ambassador in Venezuela as a kind of exile, for which he was apparently annoyed with the leading role of Laura Sarabia.

it all started by some audios released by the magazine Semana, and that generated a great scandal since Petro took over.

In these audios, Benedetti talks with Laura Sarabia and tells her that if he talked about what happened they could all go to prison.

The foregoing generated suspicions that led to criminal complaints against Petro by two opponents before the Accusation Commission of the House of Representatives, a body that investigates the actions of presidents.

The complainants were former presidential candidate Federico Gutiérrez and Senator Miguel Uribe, who believe that Petro must explain the financing of his 2022 campaign.
