COLD WAVE AND HEAVY SNOWFALL TO AFFECT CHINA IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS

China News Service, January 19 – The Central Meteorological Observatory has issued a warning of a cold wave that will affect central and eastern regions of China from the 20th to the 23rd. The temperature is expected to drop by 6 to 14°C, accompanied by strong northerly winds. This cold wave is expected to have an impact on transportation, urban operations, and agricultural production.

In addition to the cold wave, heavy snowfall is also expected in various parts of the country. From the 19th to the 20th, regions such as Inner Mongolia, Guizhou, Hunan, and Jiangxi are expected to experience light to moderate snow, with some areas experiencing heavy snow. From the 21st to the 22nd, heavy to heavy snowfall is expected in parts of the western Sichuan Plateau, southern Shaanxi, eastern Chongqing, southern Hubei, southern Anhui, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, and other regions. There is also a risk of localized freezing rain in some mountainous areas.

The Central Meteorological Observatory has also provided a detailed forecast for the next three days. On January 19th and 20th, there will be light snow in central Inner Mongolia, northern Shaanxi, Xinjiang, and other regions, along with moderate to heavy rain in western Jianghuai, Jiangnan, and southern South China.

On January 20th and 21st, light to moderate snow or sleet is expected in central and eastern Inner Mongolia, Northeast China, northern and eastern Tibet, and other regions, along with light rain in eastern Jianghuai, central Jiangnan, and most of Guangxi.

From January 21st to 22nd, light to moderate snow or sleet is expected in central Inner Mongolia, western Sichuan Plateau, southern Shaanxi, Gansu, and other regions, along with light to moderate rain in central and southern Jiangnan, southern Southwest China, and northern South China.

Residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution and make necessary preparations to minimize the impact of the upcoming cold wave and heavy snowfall on their daily lives and activities.
