A delivery hub that Poste Italiane considered to be of fundamental importance also in relation to the explosion of e-commerce in the Covid era, with an increase in online sales and related deliveries that continued even in the months following the most critical phase of the pandemic .
Between warehouse operators, internal staff, couriers, the maxi center of Villorba employs 110 people, with possible increases in staff during peak periods, that is the Christmas holidays, Black Fridays or Prime Days. The center of Villorba, explained Cristian Stecca, head of Northeast SDA, is the most modern of those active in the Triveneto.
“In the new center of Villorba, which serves the entire province of Treviso – explained the head of the structure Stefano De Marchi – over 110 resources work. Work begins around 4 in the morning when the packages arrive from the SDA HUBs in Limena, Bologna and Milan. The new center has 4 loading docks and 8 bays for receiving and sorting incoming parcels. In this phase, the distributors come into play, benefiting from a real technological jewel: a 70-meter conveyor belt which, with its extensions, can reach 94 meters. The belt is able to process up to 3,600 packages per hour and approximately 240 pallets / hour. It has an efficiency improved by 50% compared to the previous system “.
