Orban and Szoboslzai turn the game around
After a magic preparatory work by Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai scored in the 90th +6. Minute to the celebrated winning goal for RB. Shortly before, Willi Orban had equalized the Bremen lead of Leipzig-born Leonardo Bittencourt (70th) with a header (87th).
RB is denied goal: “A joke”

But the supposed 1-0 was whistled off by referee Florian Badstübner after intervention by VAR. Mohamed Simakan brought down Bremen’s Bittencourt in the goal creation. Badstübner finally rated it as a foul.
Which in turn annoyed RB coach Rose after the game: “It was a joke. To report after such a slight push and want to recognize a foul is incomprehensible,” scolded the RB coach.
Only one RBL chance in the first half
In addition to the dramatic closing stages and excitement at VAR, the game also had plenty of idle time in front of a crowd of more than 47,000. Especially in the first half, Leipzig found few solutions against a close-knit Bremen team. In the only big RB chance in the first 45 minutes, Werner just missed the goal with a lob (20th).
Bittencourt scores on the counterattack
Werder acted more courageously at the beginning of each half, trying to play on RB with quick counterattacks. Bremen only had their first big chance after 55 minutes, however, when a shot from Jens Dalsgaard Stage’s turn went just wide of the target (55′). The counter tactic worked in the 70th minute, Bittencourt cleverly broke away and scored to make it 0-1, which was celebrated by around 5,000 Bremen fans. But then came the final phase in Leipzig and a dramatic happy ending for RBL…
RB four points ahead of fifth place
With the win, RB increased the gap in fifth place in the table to four points with two games left. Werder, on the other hand, is still not saved, but the lead over relegation rank 16 is five points.

But then it’s the same as it’s been in recent weeks. The opponent has more substance , can gain more in the final phase. The lads left everything on the pitch, had cramps.
