Bunia: significant drop in malaria cases in Tchomia

The Tchomia health zone has recorded a 50% reduction in patients suffering from malaria since the start of this year 2024.

According to the head doctor of the Tchomia health zone, fewer and fewer people suffering from malaria are recorded among the patients seen during consultations.

Doctor Hervé Bavi says he made this observation at the end of February.

For him, these are the fallout from the vast campaign of free distribution of more than sixty-six thousand mosquito nets to the population of this region by the Government.

The strong heat in the Lake Albert plain also does not allow mosquitoes to breed due to the absence of arid places conducive to their reproduction, he added.

This doctor, however, invites the population to continue with the correct use of mosquito nets and to clean up the surroundings of their homes, avoiding stagnant water, particularly in trash cans and toilets; which can promote the reproduction of mosquitoes.
