Callum and Jake Robinson: A bullet to the head and three arrested: the case of the surfers, pending the families’ recognition of the bodies

The case of the three surfers missing in northern Mexico is reaching a conclusion as authorities in Baja California believe they have found the bodies of the Australian brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and their American friend Jack Carter Road. The bodies were discovered in a well near the campsite where they were last seen, and forensic tests revealed they had suffered gunshot wounds to the head.

The investigation suggests that the young men resisted a theft of their van, resulting in their tragic deaths. Blood and teeth were found near their tent, and their burned-out car was located nearby. The prosecutor, María Elena Andrade Ramírez, stated that the attackers planned to steal the victims’ vehicle to remove the tires, but a confrontation ensued, leading to the fatal outcome.

The bodies, which had been underwater for five to seven days, were in an advanced state of decomposition. Despite this, authorities were able to identify them based on physical characteristics and clothing remnants. The victims’ families have yet to officially confirm their identities, but the evidence points strongly towards them.

The Robinson brothers’ mother, Debra Robinson, made a public plea for help in locating her sons after they failed to make contact on April 27th. The news of their disappearance sparked concern in Australia, where the brothers were originally from. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has been providing support to the family during this difficult time.

The tragic story has left a mark on both Mexico and Australia, with friends and loved ones mourning the loss of these young surfers. The investigation is ongoing, and the bodies are currently being held at the Forensic Institute as authorities work to confirm their identities and bring closure to this heartbreaking case.
