The association forced to emigrate with its 200 members Wandering lessons between the library, Magaton room and open center

CALUSO

Over two hundred members (number growing) 28 years of lessons, courses, workshops and cultural trips. Yet the Unit of Caluso is still forced to wander through the library, the Magaton room (now occupied by the vaccination center) to end up with the Center open.

«We have repeatedly urged the Municipality in the hope of having our own headquarters – complains the president Massimo Ferrò – The spaces in our opinion could be identified with a little good will and some modest economic investment. Instead we are always waiting. After all, it is clear to everyone that culture has disappeared from the city of wine, except for the activities of the library ». For the councilor for Culture, Roberto Podio, the Open Center is a temporary solution pending the redevelopment works of the former Franciscan friars’ convent: “If the project we have put on the table of the Pnrr is financed, the Unit will be able to have a definitive seat in that context – states Podio who adds -. Culture is true that it has become a Cinderella, but we have no resources to invest, so we must rely on the availability of associations ». Meanwhile, after the presentation last Saturday at the San Andrea theater, of the 28th academic year, the Unit is ready to start with the courses.

The calendar has been drawn up until December, but will resume after the Christmas break if the numbers of the Covid emergency remain low. Among the novelties a first aid course held by the South Canavese Rescue Volunteers, savings management lessons and even painting workshops with Sara Magaton, communication in the age of social media with Davide Motto, reading with Maria Crusca and Ilde Bosio. The walks to discover the area and the Piedmontese dialect course are back on Wednesday afternoons, as well as those to learn English and French.

The inauguration was also an opportunity to reward the first member of the Unit of Caluso with a diploma of merit: Silvana Cavalletti. To conduct the ceremony the national president of the Unit Piercarlo Rovera and that of the Calusian section Massimo Ferrò. “The past year was incredible – recalled Ferrò – the pandemic did not, however, weaken the energy of the Unit of Caluso and the management, which worked, as far as possible, to ensure the performance of some activities, exclusively on line. The Unit of Caluso also intends to further encourage involvement with all neighboring municipalities. –
