LEARNING FROM LEI FENG DAY CELEBRATED WITH VOLUNTEER SERVICE EVENT
March 5th marked the 61st “Learning from Lei Feng Day” in the country, and in honor of this day, West Chang’an Street in Xicheng District organized a special volunteer service event with the theme of “Learn from Lei Feng and Practice Civilized Actions” to promote Lei Feng’s spirit and build a harmonious community.
The event featured 14 volunteer service spaces offering various services such as door-to-door food delivery, charity clinics, charity haircuts, charity home appliance repairs, and jewelry repairs. Residents praised the convenience of these services, with one resident named Uncle Wang expressing gratitude, stating, “This really brings volunteer services to our doorstep. It is really thoughtful for us old people.”
In addition to the practical services provided, there were also educational activities focused on fire safety. A fire propagandist conducted volunteer publicity activities, educating residents on fire prevention measures and demonstrating the use of fire equipment on site. The event also included a Chang’an Cultural Tour Youth Forum, where public welfare science policy publicity was carried out, including fire protection awareness, legal consultation, government service consultation, and civilized guide recruitment, aiming to enhance safety awareness and inspire residents to practice new ideas in their daily lives.
Furthermore, 11 communities in West Chang’an Street participated in volunteer service activities inspired by Lei Feng, focusing on health cleaning and neighborhood watch, garbage classification, civilized publicity, and joint efforts to build a peaceful community.
The New Era Civilization Practice Office of West Chang’an Street emphasized their commitment to promoting the spirit of volunteer service and integrating Lei Feng’s activities into daily life on a regular basis. Through innovative volunteer service methods, they aim to provide strong support for the construction of a livable and industrial community, as well as a beautiful red wall.
Overall, the “Learning from Lei Feng Day” volunteer service event in West Chang’an Street was a success, highlighting the importance of community service, civic engagement, and promoting a harmonious society.
