The Disaster Risk Management Directorate of the Government of Casanare reports on the necessary measures for preparation and readiness for the imminent rainy season of this year.
According to reports, a weakening of the El Niño Phenomenon is expected, with a probability of 79% between the months of April and June, indicating a transition towards climate neutrality. This change brings the possibility of rain under conditions of relative normality in the region.
Climate Predictions:
April: Significant increases in rainfall are expected, with increases between 10% and 30%, especially in the Piedemonte Llanero de Casanare.
May: The increase in rainfall will continue, reaching its maximum volumes towards June, with a predominance of saturated soils in the region.
Recommendations:
Through circular No. 0204, this territory has been placed on YELLOW alert. “The municipalities must remain in this state, this being a level of readiness and monitoring of the events associated with the season (floods, landslides, torrential floods, gales, among others), during which the Municipal Management Councils must be activated. of Disaster Risk, review plans, inventories, remember the operation of the crisis room in case it needs to be activated and the operation of response services,” said Guillermo Velandia, director of Risk Management in Casanare.
In addition, it issues a series of guidelines for different exposed sectors and communities, such as: Carry out canal or river cleaning campaigns. In homes, check the condition of the gutters, carry out the required cleaning, collect solid waste and reinforce roofs. Carry out preventive maintenance of local aqueducts and rainwater and/or sewage collection systems. Inform the authorities of danger signs or important changes that allow the issuance of timely alerts.
With the coordination and work of all public and private entities, and the responsibility of people, it is intended that this natural cycle passes without major setbacks.
