Castelnuovo Nigra, the Nativity after 20 years

The living nativity scene is back, the whole town will be illuminated by torches. At Pont Gesù Bambino and the “Christmas” atmosphere

Castelnuovo Nigra

A living nativity scene was missing for twenty years, a Castelnuovo Nigra. The Sacred representation will be re-proposed this evening, Friday 24th, along the road that crosses the town where scenarios will be set up that will be the stage for the stages of the sacred event. Along Via Croce, illuminated by torches, you can then appreciate four inns inspired by the famous “Holy Night” of the Alladian Guido Gozzano, as well as paintings of country life of the past. Accompanied by a narrator, at 11 pm the interpreters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, with figures in tow, through the historic center will reach the church named after the patron Saint Sebastian where Don Gianni Malberti will celebrate the Midnight Mass, solemnized by the intervention of the choir parish directed by Andrea Rolando. The appointment, as well as by the municipal administration, is organized by the “Alpine Group”, by the “Friends of the Mountain”, together with the “Sacred Valley Study Center” and the Pro Loco.

A Pont Canavese you can breathe a “Christmas” atmosphere, on the square of Doblazio, there is a large nativity scene next to a Christmas tree, a creation of the Prà del Bacio association. Further on, in the locality of Oltresoana, there are Christmas decorations and another of the many Pontese associations and committees, that of Tira pere, created them.

Entering the town center you can see Christmas decorations and many nice gnomes everywhere that crowd the central Craveri square, making the adjacent ally even more colorful, where for some months the benches, the staircase and the columns of the fence have been painted with colors of the rainbow.

Nearby, more precisely in the opposite Parco Mazzonis, there is also the village of the gnomes, complete with colorful houses surrounded by the white of the snow, where children can immerse themselves in a magical and enchanted atmosphere. And walking in the streets around and even in those furthest from the center, you can discover other pretty Christmas decorations. All this is the work of the volunteers of the associations coordinated by the municipal council, chaired by the municipal councilor Stefano Pegoraro, together with many people who have worked hard to make Pont beautiful in this festive period: “Heartfelt thanks to all those who have contributed to making Pont a little more magical – observes Pegoraro-. Thanks to the children of the nursery and elementary school who have wonderfully decorated the Christmas bells and globes, the Fanti, the Aib, the Gran Paradiso choir and the Alpini who took care of arranging them under our ancient arcades, a heartfelt thanks to the I Cantejr association which decorated the whole center of Pont, to the friends of Pra dal Bacio who with their cheerful Christmas trees took care of Doblazio, via Moletti and beyond the Feiteria bridge, the Tirapere who decorated Oltresoana up to the Asylum bridge with the beautiful wooden gnomes. A big thank you also to all the people who collaborated with me to create the small village of the gnomes, I do not name them even if I wanted so much to do so, but I know they prefer it that way. Thanks to those who gave us the big Christmas tree, to those who cut it and to those who gave the material with which we made the decorations, and also to our roadmen for their precious help ».
