Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said on Sunday that the International Cricket Council (ICC) team is arriving in Pakistan today (Sunday) to review the arrangements for holding the Champions Trophy.

Speaking to the media at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Sunday, Mohsin Naqvi said that ‘Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan and for this purpose the condition of all cricket stadiums in Pakistan will be improved.’

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Mohsin Naqvi also announced the new selection committee of the national cricket team. He said that the head of the board will not have any role in this committee.

Mohsin Naqvi said that the selection committee will consist of seven members who will make decisions through consultation and all the members will have equal powers. According to him, now the captain of the national team will also be a part of the selection committee.

The new selection committee will include the captain and head coach of the cricket team, besides Wahab Riaz, Asad Shafiq, Ibrar Razzaq, Muhammad Yousuf and a data analyst.

He said that the work on appointing the coaches of the national cricket team is going on and as soon as the names are finalized they will be brought before the public. ‘In four to five days, the issue of coaches will also be finalized, God willing.’

He said that there will be a combination of international and national level coaches.

Mohsin Naqvi further said that a name for the coach had surfaced on the media and the person refused to offer his services for the Pakistan national cricket team. ‘The World Cup was needed, so I had a simple talk with Imad Wasim to strengthen the team.’

Mohsin Naqvi said that all resources will be invested in cricket and cricket players.

He added that as per the contract, there will be uniform NOC policy and no favoritism will be done with any player.

He said that after the formation of the sub-selection committee, there will be a discussion about the captain in the same forum. In this regard, the captain will decide together with the coaches and the selection committee.
