On December 10, China and Nicaragua signed the “Joint Communiqué on the Resumption of Diplomatic Relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Nicaragua.” This not only reflects that it is a global trend to agree with the one-China principle, but also that the vast majority of countries believe that cooperation with China in various fields facing the future is an act for the benefit of the country and the people, and it is the goal of the people.
Acknowledging the one-China principle is a world trend
Ruan Zongze, executive vice president of the China Institute of International Studies, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency that the one-China principle can be viewed from three perspectives as the world trend.
First, the one-China principle is the overwhelming consensus of the international community. Nicaragua’s recognition of the one-China principle is the most important basis for the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua. This proves once again that the one-China principle has become the norm for handling international relations. This is based on historical and legal principles. It is also the political basis and the most basic condition for establishing diplomatic relations between China and other countries. So far, the number of countries that have established diplomatic relations with China has reached 181, showing that the one-China principle has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.
Second, the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal is also a heavy blow to the collusion between the United States and the Taiwan authorities, and it is also a heavy blow to the “Taiwan independence” forces. Before this, the “Taiwan independence” forces wanted to use extraterritorial forces to engage in the so-called expansion of international space. The resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal once again shows that there is no international space for “Taiwan independence” in the world. To engage in “Taiwan independence” is a dead end and a dead end.
Third, the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal will also have a demonstration effect. There are currently only 14 so-called “diplomatic countries” in Taiwan. The resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria will enable these countries to re-evaluate and consider their own choices. It is foreseeable that their tendency to move closer to mainland China is unstoppable. Ruan Zongze said that establishing a closer relationship with China will bring greater opportunities and benefits to Nicaragua’s own economic and social development. Nicaragua has seen the progress made by Panama and other neighboring countries in cooperation with China, so it naturally has a comparison in its heart.
“As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China upholds fairness and justice in the international arena. China’s “Belt and Road” construction and other development initiatives, especially for the vast number of developing countries, contain huge opportunities.” Ruan Zongze said, with the past and the Taiwan authorities Compared with maintaining relations, Nicaragua now chooses the future and opportunities.
He pointed out that in concrete terms, China and Nepal can achieve effective cooperation on the two most pressing issues of epidemic prevention and control and economic recovery. Under the “Belt and Road” framework, China-Nepal cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win, which is completely different from some condescending and charitable cooperation. Nicaragua can create a better future in cooperation with China.
“Nicaragua is located in Latin America, and the United States has always believed that Latin America is its sphere of influence.” Ruan Zongze emphasized that by now, the outside world has understood that the United States can no longer determine the independent choice of these countries.
