China has assisted in the search for the remains of US military personnel missing in China during World War II. The Ministry of National Defense recently announced that a team from the Bureau of Prisoner of War and Missing Personnel Statistics of the U.S. Department of Defense conducted on-site surveys in Guangxi and Hunan with the help of Chinese authorities.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in archival cooperation between the two countries, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The delegation from the US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) visited various sites to search for the remains of missing American personnel, thanks to the assistance of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the CMC Office for International Military Cooperation, and other relevant departments.
