This morning, January 11, a large march was held in Quibdó demanding the immediate freedom of Jefferson Murillo Mosquera and Blyderson Arboleda Montañez, two young public officials from Chocó kidnapped on January 6 while traveling in a vehicle from Quibdó to Istmina.
The march toured the main streets of the central sector of Quibdó and was led by Nubia Carolina Córdoba Curi, governor of Chocó, and Hernán Penagos, national registrar. They were accompanied by the parents of the two officials, employees of the Sena Chocó and the Chocó Registry, and by thousands of citizens.
“We will continue to carry out marches in Quibdó and in other municipalities of Chocó, with increasing numbers, to demand that the captors release our officials safely,” said one of the organizers of the event.
The feeling in Chocó is unanimous and indignation against the abominable crime of kidnapping is growing.
Brigadier Nicolás Alejandro Zapata, director in charge of the Police, said that one of the hypotheses that the authorities are using is that common criminals would have carried out the kidnapping in Chocó and then be “sold” to illegal armed groups.
The Police director referred to the criminal group Los Zetas or Los Palmeños, responsible for committing extortion, burning of vehicles and selective homicides in Chocó, a group that “works” hand in hand with the ELN.
