Chocoan girls won first international prize in robotics

The Nuevo Amanecer ESAL Foundation reported that the team of six girls from Chocó CYBERGIRLS achieved first place and prize in the international robotics competition that was held in Medellín from February 18 to 22, 2024.

These are girls between 13 and 15 years of age, (Eylin, Angely, Maxdy, Daviana, Yailin and Franceska), five of Afro-descendant origin and one of indigenous ethnicity, from three educational institutions in Quibdó that competed against other Latin American countries. , United States and Australia.

The foundation is led by Quibdos psychologist Haidy Sánchez Mattsson, and offers training programs for girls and boys in vulnerable regions of Chocó, with a special focus on STEAM areas.

This educational robotics program has been coordinated by the computer specialist teacher Enith Mayo Mena, Gabriela Areiza Lozano, and the accompanying teacher Tricia Buriticá.
