Ciclovia Navile, work on the city section from April – Environment

Work on the Navile cycle route in the city section will start in April. The intervention is part of a larger “PNRR Ciclovie Urbane” loan, for a total amount of 3.491.999 euro, dedicated to cycle connections between university campuses and metropolitan railway hubs. Specifically, the Navile Cycle Route connects the central station to the Navile – Battiferro university center and to the Corticella station (Metropolitan Railway Service and future terminus of the green tram line).

The economic amount dedicated to the route is approximately 1 million seven hundred thousand euros and the conclusion of the intervention is expected by spring 2025with the duration linked to atmospheric conditions.
The construction site of the Navile cycle path will proceed in blocks, trying to guarantee the continuity of the routes as much as possible, avoiding the closure of the entire cycle path. The departure will be from the northern end, Corticella and via Bentini, the limit of the municipal border and for the entire duration of the construction site there will be constant contact with the offices of the Emilia-Romagna region for the supervision of the works.

The entire route will be built in calcestre (fine stabilized, natural and permeable gravel). The width of the paths will be uniform, with a minimum dimension of at least 180 cm, except for physical obstacles.

Furthermore, along the new route of the Navile cycle route, some new features will be introduced:

construction of the route on the left bank, inside the Lunetta Mariotti parkas an alternative to those that pass through the park of Villa Angeletti at the height of Vignola Bridgewe will proceed with the arrangement of the ladder and the replacement of the protective barriers, as well as introducing the new lighting of the path after the Corticella supporton the little bridge where the Hera discharge is located, a collaborating slab will be built and the protective barriers will be rebuilt in the underpass of via Bentini we will proceed with the arrangement of the route, with the insertion of the lighting system

Subsequently, as works not included in this construction site but linked to the new Passante, two little bridges will be inserted which reconnect the route towards the east, at the height of the Forest strip e parco paul harrisand westwards on the new cycle path up Via Cristoforo Colombo.

The project is included in the Urban Plan for Sustainable Mobility and in the Biciplan of the Municipality of Bologna, with the strategic objective of enhancing Bologna’s environmental system and making it adequately accessible and usable by pedestrians and cyclists.
There are three i “greenway” green pathsidentified in the Biciplan, connected and interconnected with the load-bearing network and the support network: the routes follow the course of the Reno and Savena rivers and the Navile canal, to which the Ciclovia del Sole is added.

The route of the Navile Ciclovia coincides with line #17 of the Bicipolitana for leisure and goes from Bologna to Malassociazione for a length of 35.5 kilometres.
