According to the technical reports of forecasts and alerts from the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies, IDEAM, and data collected by Codechocó officials throughout the subregions, we alert the municipal risk management committees and the community in general in response to threat alerts due to vegetation cover fires and landslides in the department of Chocó.

Due to the forecast of the threat from vegetation cover fires, a red alert is registered in the municipalities of Acandí and El Carmen de Atrato, in addition to an orange alert in the municipalities of El Litoral del San Juan and Unguía.

Regarding landslide threats, there is a red alert in the municipalities of Alto Baudó, Bajo Baudó, Bagadó, Cértegui, El Cantón de San Pablo, Lloró, Medio Atrato, Nuquí, Nóvita, Quibdó, Río Iró, Río Quito and Tadó; In addition to an orange alert in the municipalities of Bahía Solano, Bojayá, Carmen del Darién, Condoto, Istmina, Medio Baudó, San José del Palmar and Sipí.

Given the situation, Cdechocó reiterates that the necessary measures be taken such as: avoiding burning and inappropriate disposal of solid waste, especially glass, cigarettes, plastics and papers in areas with vegetation cover, not carrying out bad environmental practices, not carrying out burning and bonfires in wooded areas.

On the other hand, it invites you to prevent risks due to landslides, through the following actions; Build or live in safe areas, protect forests, identify areas with threats of landslides or landslides, make a family emergency plan, study alternative evacuation routes, avoid the accumulation of garbage or waste on the ground, among others.

The general director of Codechocó, Arnold Alexander Rincón López, expressed that the entity has been carrying out control and surveillance actions, and environmental education in the territory, with the purpose of preventing emergencies and guaranteeing the well-being of the community. Additionally, he invites you to give timely notice to the competent authority of any situation that threatens the ecological balance in the Chocó territory.
