Colombia stands in solidarity with Ecuador in the face of acts of violence

The Colombian Government expressed its support for democratic institutions and the rule of law in Ecuador, condemning the recent acts of violence that have taken place in various cities of the neighboring country.

In a statement issued by the Chancellery of Colombia, solidarity with Ecuador was expressed and violent acts were rejected that affected students and journalists.

In the statement, the Government of Colombia expressed “its explicit and unequivocal support for democratic institutions and the rule of law in the sister Republic of Ecuador” and showed “its solidarity with those affected.” In addition, the Colombian Government called for the stabilization of the security situation and the restoration of public order.

The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa issued decree No. 111 this Tuesday, declaring “the existence of an internal armed conflict» in his country, after the events of violence against students and journalists at the University of Guayaquil and the TC Televisión news channel. In response, the Colombian Government expressed its support for the Government and people of Ecuador, expressing its solidarity with the legitimate authorities.

The Colombian statement emphasized: “The Government of Colombia hopes that public order is restored and the security situation is stabilized, expressing its support for the Government and people of Ecuador.” Furthermore, Colombia’s willingness to collaborate in the restoration of harmony for the benefit of the Ecuadorian people was expressed, always respecting the principles of the rule of law.

The Ecuadorian president’s statement included the identification of organized crime groups transnational as terrorist organizations and belligerent non-state actors, announcing military operations to neutralize these groups.
