Deputies Deliberate and Discuss Government Work Report at National People’s Congress
On March 5th, representatives gathered at the second session of the 14th National People’s Congress in the Great Hall of the People to listen to the government work report. The report highlighted the achievements of the past year under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core.
The GDP exceeded 126 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.2%, with 12.44 million new urban jobs created. Grain output reached a record high of 1.39 trillion kilograms, and the per capita disposable income of residents increased by 6.1%.
Representatives praised General Secretary Xi Jinping’s leadership and the efforts of the people in achieving these results. Rural revitalization efforts were also highlighted, with representatives sharing stories of overcoming challenges to achieve prosperity.
Looking ahead to 2023, the government work report sets a target of about 5% GDP growth and more than 12 million new urban jobs. Representatives emphasized the need to seize opportunities and mobilize enthusiasm to ensure continuous economic improvement.
The report also focuses on promoting the construction of a modern industrial system, accelerating the development of new productive forces, expanding domestic demand, strengthening ecological civilization, and creating new achievements.
Representatives expressed confidence in overcoming challenges and working towards a bright future of Chinese-style modernization. The construction of infrastructure projects, such as the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge, symbolizes China’s strength in overcoming difficulties.
