In a devastating attack that has shocked Russia, the death toll in the attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow has risen to 115 people, the Russian Instruction Committee said in a statement issued today. .

The city of Krasnogorsk, in the northwest of the Russian capital, witnessed the tragedy when a group of assailants wreaked chaos and desolation in the area. Andrei Vorobiov, governor of the Moscow region, confirmed the discovery of around twenty bodies in the rubble of the affected building, warning that rescue work will continue for several more days.

«Another 20 bodies were found under the rubble. The work will continue at least for a few more days,” Voroviov expressed through the Telegram platform.

Authorities, who had previously put the death toll at 93, stressed that the figure could increase considerably as search and rescue operations progress.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the causes of death of the concert goers are gunshot wounds and asphyxiation due to smoke generated by the fire set during the attack.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) reported the arrest of eleven individuals allegedly linked to the attack, including four terrorists who directly participated in the assault. Alexandr Bórtnikov, director of the FSB, reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin about these arrests, detailing that the suspects were captured on a road in the Bryansk region, near the border with Ukraine, after an armed confrontation.

Russian authorities revealed that the attackers intended to cross the border into Ukraine and were in contact with individuals in that country.

As for the injured, an estimated 107 people are hospitalized in Moscow and the Moscow region as a result of the attack. According to medical sources, 44 of these patients are in serious condition, while 16, including a child, are in critical condition.

The attack, which was claimed by the Islamic State, has generated a wave of solidarity and consternation in Russia, leaving an indelible mark on the country’s modern history and highlighting the urgency of strengthening security and prevention measures against future acts of violence.
