Conegliano, the industrialist Matteo Zoppas supports Pediatrics: “They helped my son too”

The entrepreneur, together with the Al Castelletto “da Clemi” restaurant in Follina, raised funds for the Salus Pueri Foundation and the “feather” children

CONEGLIANO. More than 20 thousand euros raised for the neonatal intensive care in Padua, in favor of “feather” children, those born prematurely. They were collected thanks to two initiatives activated by the Al Castelletto restaurant by “Clemi” in Follina and by the Venetian entrepreneur Matteo Zoppas. The funds will be used to purchase a “Neoview” and a “Glidescope”, two high-tech instruments that allow tracheal intubation in newborns weighing less than one kilogram.

Almost a hundred people took part in the dinner, organized by Clementina Viezzer, her nephew Nicolò and Matteo Zoppas, raising about 12 thousand euros. To the proceeds of the evening were added those of the fundraising launched by Zoppas on the occasion of his birthday, through his Facebook page which allowed to double the figure. It will allow the purchase of two miniaturized instruments that will soon be delivered to the “Salus Pueri” Foundation chaired by Fabio Pinelli and founded in 1992 with the aim of promoting projects and collecting resources in favor of Pediatrics of Padua, to create a true hospital suitable for children and their families.

«These are instruments», Matteo Zoppas explains, «indispensable for the survival of children who are born with some difficulties but who have the spirit of a warrior within them. As happened for our son Gianfranco, for whom the intervention of the Pediatrics of Padua was decisive ». Clementina Viezzer echoes: «Over the years we have always supported the work of associations that spend themselves on others. After the drama of Covid and now with the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, we felt we had to make a concrete gesture for the community ». “Every year 400 premature babies are hospitalized at our facility and more than a hundred weigh less than 1500 grams”, explains Eugenio Baraldi, director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and vice president of “Salus Pueri”. “These machines are key to improving baby care.”
