GIANT. In everyone’s hearts he will remain as the mayor who did his best to rebuild Vallà, after the tragic whirlwind on 6 June 2009: Gianluigi Contarin, mayor of Riese from 2004 to 2014, died on 17 June in only 59 years old.
For some time he had been struggling with a tumor: on Wednesday evening a sudden aggravation that left no hope. In addition to being mayor for ten years, he had also been deputy mayor and councilor in the previous decade (as well as one of the founders of the Riesina League): his last political assignment had seen him provincial councilor for traffic under the presidency of Leonardo Muraro. Unanimous condolences from the whole Treviso political world and from the municipality to which he had dedicated twenty years of commitment.
