The Province of Hunan is making strides in cracking down on unethical behavior within its discipline inspection and supervision system. The province’s special crackdown on leading cadres who have used their power for personal gain has resulted in the sorting out of 40 problem clues, with 6 cases being filed by the end of December 2023. Notably, the Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of a provincial enterprise was investigated and punished for making profits for relatives and friends, and was subsequently dismissed from his party position and removed from government affairs, showcasing the seriousness with which the province is tackling these issues.
The special rectification is part of an “optional action” aimed at addressing outstanding issues within the national discipline inspection and supervision cadre team. Alongside this effort, the province has also independently carried out the “Two Leads and Five Rectifications” campaign, targeting disciplinary inspection and supervision cadres involved in various illegal activities. This initiative has resulted in the investigation of 115 problems and the disciplining of 120 people.
The goal of discipline inspection and supervision agencies is to turn the “problem list” into an “achievement list”. In Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Shandong Province, comprehensive and targeted special rectifications have been undertaken to address existing shortcomings related to the implementation of laws and regulations.
Additionally, the Hebei Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has introduced or revised 90 systems and improved 5,296 systems since the launch of the education rectification, focusing on risk points and risk control objects in the operation of power.
Officials in the Hebei province have also devised a method to implement a “look back” working approach, which will involve repeated screening, dissection of issues, immersion experiences, and sampling reviews, among other strategies.
Overall, these efforts serve as a testament to the provinces’ commitment to promoting high-quality development through strict rectification and institutional mechanisms. The discipline inspection and supervision agencies are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to root out corruption and unethical behavior within their ranks.
