Cord Brügmann takes over the management of the Forum Law Foundation in Karlsruhe. The board of trustees decided on Friday to appoint the lawyer, historian and association manager as director of the foundation. Brügmann is a lawyer and has worked in management positions and in political consulting for many years.
From 2003 to 2018 he was initially managing director for training and further education and later general manager of the German Lawyers’ Association. In this role, he represented the professional association to politicians and the public for over ten years and campaigned for the modernization and professionalization of the association’s structures.
Brügmann received his doctorate in 2008 on the subject of “Anti-Semitism and civil jurisprudence in the Weimar Republic” at the TU Berlin. He was involved in the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial and developed educational offerings there. Since 2020 he has been the host of the podcast “Rechtstalk” about innovations in the legal market and access to law.
The Forum Law Foundation was founded in 2019 as a federal foundation under public law by a law of the German Bundestag with its headquarters in Karlsruhe and another location in Leipzig. It designs a variety of analogue and digital exhibition, event and educational formats and creates spaces in which people talk about their experiences with the law and the rule of law.
