Cortina, the panoramic path of the «Gores de Federa» completed

by admin

The Gores or “Gorges” were conceived with the aim of giving an alternative to the asphalted road which until recently was the only access road to Malga Federa starting from Campo di Sotto

CORTINA. Among the most popular trails in Cortina today are the “Gores de Federa”, a scenic route created by the Regole d’Ampezzo between 2019 and 2021. The Gores or “Gorges” were designed with the aim of giving a alternative to the asphalted road which until recently represented the only access road to Malga Federa starting from Campo di Sotto (Zuel).

Today, two years after the inauguration of the first stretch that leads from the Federa bridge to the hut of the same name, the path has been completed and all enthusiasts can enjoy an alternative route surrounded by nature already at the height of “Barìza in cu ”, just above Lake Pianozes.

The path, which in the new sections leads first to “Piàn da Legname” and then to “Ponte di Federa”, is even more beautiful and full of details: from the numerous waterfalls to the lookout points, from the stairways to the serpentine, the Gores today also offer brand new via ferrata sections, made with the help of the Alpine Guides. And right here the amateur hiker should not be afraid: those who do not like the exposed passages of the “equipped route” can choose the “easy route”, simpler and within everyone’s reach. The bridges of the Gores, in iron and wood, are as many and fascinating as the serpentines, which in the central section lead to the top of a belvedere with a view of Cortina.

Then there is an imposing iron staircase, 14 meters long and weighing about 2 tons, suspended above the stream. To assemble and install it, the intervention of the helicopter was required which, thanks to the mastery of the pilot, was able to complete the preparation work carried out by the Regole workers. Arriving at the Federa bridge, the final stretch of the path begins, embellished about a year ago by the works of three contemporary art artists: Alessandro Ferri “Dado”, T-yong Chung and Federico Tosi.

Ferri’s wooden bow did not survive the last winter, while T-yong’s resin sculptures and Tosi’s pigmented concrete spheres are still in good health. At the end of the route and arrived at the Federa hut, enthusiasts can continue their excursion to conquer one of the numerous peaks in the surrounding area, but with in mind the saying of Hans Kammerlander: “The summit belongs to you only when you are back down, up to that moment is you who belong to her ”. And then all that remains is to retrace the Gores from top to bottom and take home, together with the summit, all the emotions of an unforgettable excursion. forgettable.
