Covid: Iran, high schools reopen after 20 months

Primary and secondary institutes return in attendance from 22 November

(ANSA) – TEHRAN, 06 NOV – After 20 months of distance learning for the Covid-19 emergency, high schools reopened today in the urban centers of Iran. This was announced by the Ministry of Education of Tehran, quoted by ISNA, adding that the pupils of primary and secondary schools will instead return in attendance from 22 November. In the less densely populated rural areas of the Islamic Republic, schools had already reopened on 23 September.

According to official data provided by Iran, about a quarter of students aged between 12 and 18, who are 1.57 million in all, are already immunized, while 85% have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

At the moment, 33 Iranian cities are classified at very high risk for Covid, 95 at high risk, 220 at medium risk and 100 at low risk. In the past 24 hours, the authorities in Tehran have registered 6,803 cases and 120 victims. (HANDLE).
