Jiangmen City Capitalizes on Strategic Location to Promote Daguang Bay Economic Zone

The Daguang Bay Economic Zone, nestled along the coast facing Macau, Zhuhai and Hong Kong, stands as a key building block in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. With 3,240 square kilometers of development space, the economic zone is strategically positioned and brimming with potential for large-scale development and construction.
The completion of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor and the Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Corridor this year has opened the door to historic breakthroughs and improvements for the Daguang Bay Economic Zone, making it an integral part of the “golden inner bay” around the Pearl River Estuary. Jiangmen Municipal Party Committee is spearheading efforts to develop the area, with its sights set on creating a new national platform for cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
The Daguang Bay Economic Zone has been included in the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and listed as a key cooperation platform, alongside existing projects such as Hengqin, Qianhai, Nansha, and the Loop. By positioning itself as a national platform for cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao, the economic zone seeks to amplify the region’s impact within the Greater Bay Area.
The “bridge economy” has created a historic opportunity for the Daguang Bay Economic Zone, offering vast development space and economic potential for the region. With support and guidance from the country and province, the economic zone is primed to enter a new stage of development and embark on a transformative journey.
Capitalizing on its unique positioning, the Daguang Bay Economic Zone is poised to drive cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao in the area of new industrialization, serving as a “converter” of application innovation and an “amplifier” of industrial development. By leveraging technological innovation and building a high-quality modern industrial system, the economic zone is set to play a pivotal role in accelerating the formation of new productive forces and enhancing new momentum for development within the Greater Bay Area.
Jiangmen City is strategically aligning its efforts with the development strategy of Hong Kong and Shenzhen to promote the construction of key cooperation platforms such as the Shenjiang Economic Cooperation Zone and the Gangyi Green Industrial Park. These efforts are not only aimed at seizing major historical opportunities but also at serving the overall national development situation and promoting the integrated development of the east and west sides of the Pearl River Estuary.
