After the resounding victory, different governments and officials continue to show their support for El Salvador, sending congratulatory messages to President Nayib Bukele.
This Wednesday, the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the president of China, Xi Jinping, congratulated the Salvadoran president on his recent reelection as head of the Central American country.
“We assure you of success and we ratify the will to advance bilateral relations between our countries,” said Díaz-Canel on his official X account.
Likewise, Chinese President Xi Jinping showed his willingness to continue deepening bilateral cooperation and raising the level of diplomatic relations.
In addition, he highlighted the rapid development of ties between China and El Salvador in recent years and the “fruitful results” of practical cooperation, which “has brought tangible benefits” for Salvadorans.
After the civic celebrations last Sunday, February 4, the Salvadoran people demonstrated massive support for Bukele’s re-election, proclaiming him the winner of the presidential elections with more than 85% of votes in favor.
