The accident at 1.10 pm on Saturday 30 October in Alpago: a 59-year-old from Limana lost control in the corners, he was helicopter transported to the Treviso hospital
ALPAGO. He loses control of his bike when cornering and crashes into a post in the fence of a house. FG, a 59-year-old resident of Limana, who was taking a bike ride yesterday when he had an accident, is hospitalized at the Treviso hospital in serious condition, but not in danger of life.
It was around 1.10pm. The man was coming down from Pieve d’Alpago when, at the bend where the historic restaurant “da Stefano” (now Hosteria Ducale) is located, he lost control, crashing into one of the columns on either side of the gate of the avenue access to a home. According to an initial reconstruction, the impact would have been so violent that the man would have knocked down a concrete slab that was placed on top of the fence. He was wearing his helmet, which broke on impact.
Some families who were nearby immediately called for help. The first to arrive on site were the volunteers of Eva Alpago, who gave him the first treatment. In the meantime, the helicopter was called, because the injured person’s condition was serious. The aircraft landed at the sports field, where the ambulance for the transfer of the man arrived.
While the Traffic Police was dealing with the relief of the accident, FG was transported (not intubated) to the Ca ‘Foncello hospital in Treviso, where he was hospitalized with a craniofacial trauma. It is serious but not life threatening.
It is not the first time that that intersection is the scene of an accident. The residents and inhabitants of Pieve have repeatedly reported the danger of the junction and also of the one located in the center of the town, where there are no speed deterrents nor, citizens complain, hoping to improve safety in the critical points of the provincial road, adequate signage.
