A new state of emergency was decreed by the President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa, for Manabí and four more provinces.

The signing of the decree and its announcement took place this Tuesday, April 30, 2024. In addition to Manabí, the measure also applies in El Oro, Guayas, Los Ríos and Santa Elena.

The decree indicates that it occurred within the framework of the persistence of the internal armed conflict that is being experienced in the country.

It was after a request from the Ministry of Defense that a new state of exception was established in these provinces of the country.

In this context, President Noboa orders the mobilization of the National Police and the Armed Forces throughout the territory of these five provinces.

The decree also resolves that The right to inviolability of the home is suspended.

That is to say, the public force can carry out raids, inspections and searches in places where members of armed groups are hiding without the need for an order.

This emergency declaration will be valid for 60 days.

According to the Presidency of the Republic, sand is based “on the increase in hostilities and the need to carry out combat operations against armed groups in these provinces.”

Decree 250 does not contemplate mobility restrictions or curfew hours in the indicated provinces.
