The former president of the Constitutional Court Valerio Onida died. His son Francesco posted a photo of his father on Facebook with the words “Hello Pope, thanks for everything”. Born in Milan in 1936, he turned 86 on March 30th. Professor of constitutional law at the University of Milan, he was a constitutional judge from 1996 and president of the Council from September 2004 to January 2005.
Judge of the Constitutional Court for nine years
Professor and lawyer, he taught Constitutional Law at the University for thirty-five years. For nine years he was a judge of the Constitutional Court, which he presided over in the last months of his mandate. He was president of the Italian Association of Constitutionalists, of the Higher School of the Judiciary and of the Ferruccio Parri National Institute – Network of Institutes for the history of the Resistance and of the contemporary age (formerly INSMLI). He is President of the “Giovanni XXIII” Foundation for Religious Sciences in Bologna.
