Diego’s brother Hugo Maradona died of cardiac arrest

Hugo Maradona, brother of Diego Armando Maradona, died today, December 28 of cardiac arrest. The death occurred at 11.50 this morning. The man, 52, lived in the Flegrean area, in Monte di Procida, in the province of Naples. Hugo Maradona died in his home. The 118 health workers arrived on the spot and confirmed the death. The news of the disappearance of the Argentine champion’s brother, 52, has been confirmed by sources close to Hugo. He leaves his wife Paola and 3 children.

Hugo too had embarked on a football career: at 18 he was bought by Napoli himself, who turned him on loan to Ascoli. The two brothers also played as opponents, but Hugo’s career then took other paths: Rayo Vallecano in Spain, then experiences in Austria and Japan, before returning to Naples and devoting himself to youth football as a coach.

He had also tried the road of politics, with an announced candidacy in the last administrative in Naples in the lists that supported the candidate for mayor Catello Maresca. Candidacy then vanish for citizenship issues.

The death of Hugo Maradona comes one year after the death of Diego Armando, which took place on November 25, 2020 in Argentina.

“A kind and respectable person, we were proud to have had him here on our territory, in our community,” the mayor of Monte di Procida, Peppe Pugliese, told beraking latest news after learning the news of his death.
