DRC: nearly 20 national deputies drafted by the Constitutional Court

The Constitutional Court issued a single judgment on Monday April 22 proclaiming definitively elected 500 national deputies. It ruled after declaring admissible and well-founded 19 requests out of the 134 submitted for rectification of material errors in its judgments rendered on March 12. Of these 19 deputies, some who already sat in the National Assembly retain their seats.

Among the 19 deputies who won their case, for example, for the electoral constituency of Kabare in South Kivu, is Serge Bahati of the AFDC-A. He returns to his seat in the National Assembly, replacing Claude Nyamugabo.

Jethro Muyombi of the UVT is rehabilitated in the electoral constituency of Lubumbashi (Haut-Katanga).

Gilbert Kankonde of the UDPS/Tshisekedi retains his seat, to the detriment of Pascal Manshimba in the electoral district of Ndemba in Kasaï-Central.

Tunda Kasongo is definitively elected in the Kibombo constituency and Cléophas Munganga, in that of Bulungu.

Robert Myondo replaces Modero Nsimba for the electoral constituency of Moanda (Kongo-Central).

Fontshi Lukendi is proclaimed elected for Tshilenge (Kasaï-Oriental).

Taylor Lubanga retains his seat, while Nkuna Mudikolele is rejected.

Olivier Nsendula replaces Samy Badibanga at Katanda.

This definitive judgment of the Court thus closes the debate on the correction of material errors by creating dissatisfied people who were nevertheless declared definitively elected.
