DRC: Women’s rights movements support legal actions against Pastor Kas – Capsud.net

Women’s rights organizations marched this Thursday to protest against forced and early marriages. But also, support the legal actions initiated by the PGR in the case of Pastor Kas and little Meda.

According to the organizers of this march which led to the submission of a memo to the Ministry of Justice, the young girl’s place is in school and not in marriage.

« We have just marched to say no to forced and early marriages. Marriage must take place when one has reached a certain maturity. But also, it must be the result of consent. In the case of Pastor Kas, we want justice to be done. And moreover, a memorandum has just been filed with the Ministry of Justice and keeps seals for this purpose“, said a women’s rights activist.

It is worth recalling that following public outcry, the PGR issued an arrest warrant against Pastor Kas, leader of a local church accused of raping a child. This arrest warrant led to his arrest. He is currently in Makala central prison.
