This newspaper, Beijing, February 17th. Statistics from the 2024 Comprehensive Transportation Spring Festival Transport Task Force show that during the Spring Festival holiday (February 10th to 17th), the total number of cross-regional personnel movements in society is expected to be 2.311 billion.
Specifically, the railway passenger volume is expected to accumulate 99.59 million people; the highway passenger volume is expected to accumulate 2.184 billion people, of which the non-commercial passenger car travel volume on expressways and ordinary national and provincial highways is expected to total 1.998 billion people, and the highway commercial passenger volume is expected to total 186 million passengers; waterway passenger traffic is expected to total 9.4 million; civil aviation passenger traffic is expected to total 18.04 million.
Recently, various regions have entered the peak period of return journeys, and transportation departments in various regions have taken multiple measures to increase transportation capacity and improve service quality to make the return journey during the Spring Festival safer, more convenient and more warm. On February 17, the country’s railways are expected to carry 16.2 million passengers, and 2,256 additional passenger trains have been arranged. The railway’s Spring Festival transportation capacity has reached a new high. Railway departments in various regions have coordinated the use of high-speed rail and normal-speed resources, increased transport capacity, and promptly opened additional passenger trains on popular line sections to meet the return travel needs of passengers.
During the Spring Festival holiday, public security and traffic control departments across the country closely focused on the central tasks of ensuring safety and smooth traffic, researched and planned in advance, carefully organized and deployed, strengthened road management and control, and created a good road traffic environment for celebrating the peaceful New Year. As of 19:00 on February 17, the national road traffic safety situation was generally stable and orderly, and no major road traffic accidents had been reported.
Data from the Ministry of Emergency Management show that as of 19:00 on February 17, the national security situation during the Spring Festival holiday was generally stable, with no major disasters and accidents, and the number of major accidents dropped by 75% year-on-year.
