Road Traffic Forecast Released by Xiamen Traffic Police for Tomb Sweeping Day

With Tomb Sweeping Day approaching, the Xiamen traffic police department has released a road traffic forecast for the upcoming holiday period. According to their predictions, there will be significant congestion on the roads during specific times.

On the day before Qingming Festival (April 3), the traffic police department anticipates that the city’s congestion index will peak at around 18:00. There will be noticeable vehicle slowdowns that are expected to last until approximately 21:00. As for the last day of the holiday (April 6), there will be a small-scale return trip, with the return traffic flow mainly occurring between 14:00 and 19:00.

During the peak congestion times on April 3, between 17:00 and 21:00, the road sections experiencing the most congestion will be the “five bridges and two tunnels” leading in and out of the island, urban expressways, and main roads within the city. Specifically, areas such as Xianyue Elevated Highway, Chang’an Road, Island Ring Road, Fangzhong Road, Lehai Road, and Haihong Road are expected to be significantly congested.

From April 4th to 6th, congestion will be concentrated around major cemeteries, popular scenic spots, and road sections near business districts. This includes areas like Nanputuo, Xuelingshan Cemetery, Zhonghua Permanent Cemetery, Fuze Garden, Shishi Zenyuan, as well as Daxue Road, Yanwu Road, Huandao South Road, Siming South Road, Siming North Road, Yanwu Bridge, and Lujiang Road.

As travelers prepare to visit cemeteries, pay respects to their ancestors, and enjoy the holiday, the traffic police department advises staying informed about the road conditions and planning trips accordingly to avoid potential delays and congestion. Stay safe and enjoy the holiday responsibly.
