Entering the gate of the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the school motto of “Seek Truth from Facts” stands in a prominent position, reminding the red gene here. In fact, “seeking truth from facts”, which has a high rate of appearance in Chinese social life, has a history of nearly 2,000 years.
The term “seeking truth from facts” first came from the “Han Shu”, saying that Hejian Xian Wang Liu De “studied ancient times and seeks truth from facts”. Later, Tang Dynasty scholar Yan Shigu interpreted “seeking truth from facts” as “seeking truth from facts and seeking truth from each other” and extended it to a pragmatic style of study.
In 1917, Hunan Public Industrial College moved to Yuelu Academy with a thousand years of history. The then principal Bin Bucheng wrote a plaque “Seek Truth from Facts” and hung it in the lecture hall of the academy. It is precisely with this as a guide that the Chinese civilization continues to inherit and innovate.
“Seek truth from facts” embodies the Marxist view of practice. Marxism has taken root in China and is integrated with Chinese traditional culture, so that everything starts from reality, theory is integrated with practice, and practice is the only criterion for testing truth.
