Edison is still growing in renewables

Edison is still growing in renewable energy. Today it has completed the acquisition of 100% of the Vibinum Srl company from the Futuren group and 90% of the Aerochetto Srl company, taking over the 51% stake from the Futuren group and 39% from Repower Spa. Through the two transactions, Edison follows up to the growth plan in renewable generation and consolidates its leadership position in the wind sector, increasing its portfolio by a further 40 MW for a total installed capacity (wind and photovoltaic) of 1.1 GW.

Aerochetto Srl and Vibinum Srl hold wind assets, respectively, of 30 MW in Sicily and 10 MW in Puglia, two regions in which Edison boasts a historical presence in the sector and by virtue of which it can benefit from operational synergies linked to the management and maintenance of the plants. . The two wind farms meet the needs of around 24,695 families and avoid the emission of around 30,817 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per year. Furthermore, in the next few years these plants may be affected by repowering interventions, which will allow to further increase the annual production of green energy and at the same time reduce the number of wind turbines.

The transaction is part of Edison’s industrial plan, communicated on June 16, which provides for an increase in the share of renewable installed capacity, wind and photovoltaic, from the current 1.1 GW to 4 GW by 2030, simultaneously bringing green production from the current 26% to 40% of its production mix. A plan of high value for the Italian economic fabric, which together with the growth of renewable generation, has energy efficiency, sales and services for end customers and gas and green gas activities among its strategic development cornerstones. And which translates into investments of around 3 billion euros by 2030, in order to accompany the rapid growth required by the challenge of the energy transition and the objectives set for decarbonisation.
