Elections, the stalemate in the Democratic Party over the choice of candidate causes Biagioni’s prices to rise

There are three months left until the local elections for the choice of the new mayor of Prato but it is as if the Democratic Party is in no hurry with respect to this electoral deadline. The choice of candidate has ended in quicksand. While the situation of the centre-right has been unblocked with the name of Gianni Cenni of Fratelli d’Italia who will be presented to the city on Saturday afternoon at the Garibaldi in the centre, the opposite front seems to be a prisoner of itself. Between current competitions, personalisms and tactics of all sorts, we are at the same point as a month ago and no light seems to be turning on at the end of the tunnel. Even the choice of the candidate by the opponents did not bring any acceleration in their decisions. A stalemate that increases the provincial secretary’s prices Marco Biagioni, the only name that can satisfy the demands of the most aggressive supporters of the winning motion of the local congress and of the national one led by Elly Schlein. However, not everyone seems to like the dual role of referee and player that Biagioni actually takes on at the moment.

The regional councilor’s quotations are stable Ilaria Bugetti, indicated as the ideal candidate by most of the territorial circles involved in a sort of consultation extended by the leaders. Prices are falling Simone Faggi, current deputy mayor, Biffoni’s trusted man who is a strong point compared to the great personal consensus recorded by the outgoing mayor but who does not enthuse the pro-Schlein hard core who, as mentioned, claims decisions and names for themselves. A good point of contact between this need and that of riding the Biffonian consensus could be represented by the name of Ilaria Santi who sits on the Biffoni council and supported Schlein at the national congress but is perceived more as a name close to the Catholic world than belonging to the hard core. Help could come from the outcome of the new survey that is underway in the city. Apparently it was commissioned by the Democratic Party.
