“Now it’s official. In the face of a very complex situation like the one we are dealing with Ems Groupa reality that risks not having a future, today there is the Bottero group which presents a serious industrial proposal which can guarantee production and employment continuity”.
As Vincenzo Collaregional councilor for work and economic development, at the meeting called in Region for a discussion between trade union organisations, local institutions and the Piedmontese company Bottero Spa, which presented a binding offer to take over Ems Group of Montecchio Emilia.
The story and the meeting
Ems Group was founded in 2018 by merger of five leading companies in the handling, palletising and storage of goods and materials sectors: around 200 employees at the plants in Val d’Enza and Fontevivo, in Parma.
During the meeting the Bottero Spa group the industrial project illustrated highlighting all the steps that must accompany the transition phase. The operation should be completed by April 4th, once all the necessary steps have been completed.
“Now it is essential to proceed quickly with trade union agreements, both with Ems Group and with the Bottero group, on which the Region is ready to act as guarantor- added Colla-. This solution would allow us to save the skills and experience of a historical reality, guaranteeing prospects of industrial continuity, and would allow us to safeguard and maintain an important industry and supply chain in our region”.
By agreement of the parties it was established that the regional table will be permanent to closely follow, step by step, the evolution of the situation and activate every useful action to arrive at the best possible solution to protect workers, in compliance with the procedures established by the Court of Reggio Emilia.
Bottero Spa is an Italian group that has specialized in the production of glass processing machines, both for flat glass and hollow glass. In these sectors it is today among the three main global leaders, with factories, commercial subsidiaries and after-sales branches present throughout the world. In addition to the main office in Cuneo, Bottero is present in Italy in Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza) and Rovereto (Trento).
Present at the meeting in the Region with the councilor Colla the CEO of the Botero Group, Marco Tecchiothe COO of the Bottero Group, Giuseppe Bertocchithe representatives of Fiom Cgil of Parma and Reggio Emilia, of Fim Cisl and of the RSU, the budget councilor of the Municipality of Montecchio Emilia, Stefano Ferriand the mayor of Fontevivo, Tommaso Fiazza.
