From 2 to 10 October the Castelnuovo photography festival returns, the appointment in Castelnuovo di Porto (in the province of Rome) now in its ninth edition. This year the theme is the future landscape: “We want to imagine possible scenarios: reflect on the meaning that the landscape assumes in the forms of contemporary representation and its relationship with space and time”, explain the organizers.
Among the many exhibits on display, Extramoon is a group show involving twelve photographers and photographers dedicated to the Moon, intended as a “partially unexplored territory of dreams and utopia”. Cosmonauts, androids and dogs on a special mission, halfway between reality or fiction, are at the center of the images created by Joan Fontcuberta, Sara Munari, Daniel Rothbart and Noriko Yamaguchi, among others. Francesco Zizola has portrayed the moon’s rays on the waters of the Strait of Messina, while Natalia Saurin remembers her two faces, bringing her closer to the dynamics of our romantic relationships.
Besides Extramoon the festival presents the work of the Slovenian photographer Matjaz Krivic on lithium, made between the mines of Bolivia and the battery factories in China. Telephone instead it is the project by Nazario Dal Poz, curated by Stefania Giorgi, dedicated to an archive of images on space (real or post-produced), published in newspapers during the twentieth century.
The festival program also includes meetings, portfolio readings, workshops and a space dedicated to photographic books.
